A course delivered by EAIE trainers in a small in-person classroom setting over the course of two days with time for networking with fellow participants.
The 2019 EAIE Autumn Academy took place from 18–22 November 2019 at the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. The largest academy to date, participants had the opportunity to build a toolkit of expertise and know-how that will help them lay the foundations for future success.
The 16th EAIE Academy took place from 08–12 April 2019 at the University of Bordeaux in France. Thirteen in-depth courses ran during week on subject such as credential evaluation, strategic partnerships, summer schools, marketing and recruitment, and much more.
The EAIE Autumn Academy took place from 19–23 November 2018 in Bilbao, Spain. Participants from all over the world gathered at our host institution, the University of Deusto. The range of in-depth courses were focused on key topics within the field including: advising international students, international recruitment, credential evaluation and much more.

Theme: 'The future in full colour'
After two years of virtual collaboration, more than 6400 participants from 90+ countries reunited in person for our largest conference to date. The 2022 programme themed 'The future in full colour', touched on current topics in international higher education such as virtual exchange, the European Universities Initiative, and the repercussions of the war in Ukraine. Keynote speakers Yalda Hakim and Jimmy Nelson gave powerful speeches to inspire and motivate participants.
The 2017 Autumn Academy was held in Warsaw, Poland at the Conference Centrum Golden Floor Plaza from 13–17 November. The programme featured 11 interactive courses covering an array of key topics within the field including: How to manage an international office, turning prospective students into enrolled students and many more.
The 12th EAIE Academy took place in Marseille, France at the University of Aix-Marseille. The range of interactive courses covered key topics within the field, including: maximising the efforts of student recruitment agents and networks, change management in international higher education, and assessing internationalised learning outcomes among others.
The 2016 Autumn Academy was hosted by the University of La Laguna. There were 10 in-depth courses that ran during the Academy covering an arrange of international higher education topics including: addressing mental health concerns among international students, maximising work placements aboard and teaching in English just to name a few.
The 2016 Spring Academy was hosted by the Romanian-American University (RAU). The programme featured 11 in-depth courses on topics such as benchmarking, cultural learning, summer schools, student recruitment, admissions and credential evaluation, strategic internationalisation planning, assessing learning outcomes and more.
The 2015 Autumn Academy was hosted by the Ca’ Foscari University and brought together more than 170 participants. The training featured 13 comprehensive courses, among which: 'The fundamentals of building a strategic internationalisation plan', 'Advising international students: building intercultural competence', 'Change management in international higher education', 'International admissions and recruitment: detecting fraud' and more.
The 2015 Spring Academy took place at the Riga International School of Economics and Business Administration (RISEBA). The training featured 9 courses on topics such as cultural learning, alumni relations, international student recruitment, summer schools, international strategic enrollment management, joint and double degrees, admissions and more.
The 2014 Autumn EAIE Academy was hosted by Budapest Business School. The training featured 11 courses, among which: 'How to market your institution through student-generated digital content', 'Managing an international office today', 'Strategic internationalisation for business schools', 'Developing university strategies for internationalisation in a global context', 'Survival tools for joint doctoral programme planning and administration' and more.
The 2014 Spring Academy took place at The Hague University of Applied Sciences and gathered more than 150 higher education professionals from over 20 countries. The programme featured 10 courses on topics such as benchmarking, cultural learning, joint and double degrees, digital marketing, strategic internationalisation planning, admissions and more.
The 2013 Autumn EAIE Academy was hosted by Tallinn University. The training featured 8 courses, among which: 'How to optimise and maintain an international website', 'Managing an international office today', 'How to overcome the challenges of foreign credential evaluation', 'Developing and managing strategic international partnerships', 'Creating effective promotional materials in English' and more.
The 2013 Spring Academy took place at the University of Birmingham and gathered more than 130 higher education professionals from over 20 countries. The programme featured 10 courses on topics such as benchmarking, crisis management, cultural learning, joint and double degrees, digital marketing, mental health of international students, summer schools and strategic international partnerships.
The 2012 Autumn Academy was hosted by University Fernando Pessoain Porto. The event brought together more than 150 higher education professionals and offered courses on topics such as internationalisation at home, strategic international planning, website optimisation, foreign credential evaluation, international student recruitment, international master degree admissions and more.
The second Academy took place at the University of Gothenburg and gathered around 150 participants from more than 20 countries. The programme featured eight courses on topics such as benchmarking, online marketing and recruitment, student support, summer schools, double degrees, crisis management and teaching.
The first Academy was held at Universitat Politécnica de Valencia and comprised eight training courses on subject matters such as managing international offices, cultural learning in education abroad, internationalisation at home, international marketing, evaluating foreign credentials and intercultural competency.
