Afra Schacher

Afra Schacher has extensive expertise in the fields of international cooperation and leadership. She has many years’ experience in educational policymaking and has been involved in national and international commit-tees on student mobility and European exchange programs (Erasmus+/SEMP) for over ten years. She was the coordinator for European exchange programs at the University of Zurich (UZH) from 2012 until the end of 2019, after which she became the Head of Global Student Experience (GSE) in 2020. GSE is tasked with facilitating international experiences and serves as both liaison and juncture for international exchange at UZH. As head, Afra is responsible for developing the provisions for and facilitation of student mobility with a particular focus on quality management and sustainability, including designing and delivering internationalization and inter-cultural competence trainings to administrative staff members. Under her auspices, GSE is committed to pro-moting sustainability of student exchange in both its environmental aspects as well as in its long-term effects on the students themselves. Afra holds a Master’s degree in history, political science and international law.
