Simon Marginson

Simon Marginson is Professor of Higher Education at the University of Oxford, Joint Editor-in-Chief of Higher Education, Honorary Professor at Tsinghua University, and a Professorial Associate of the Melbourne Centre for Study of Higher Education at the University of Melbourne. He is a Fellow of the British Academy, a Fellow Academy of Social Sciences in UK and of the Society for Research into Higher Education, and a member of Academia Europaea. Simon’s research, which is widely used (Google Scholar h-index 85) is focused primarily on global and international higher education, higher education in East Asia, global science, and higher education and the common good. Recent books include 'Changing higher education in East Asia', edited with Xin Xu (Bloomsbury, 2022), and 'Assessing the contributions of higher education', edited with Brendan Cantwell, Daria Platonova and Anna Smolentseva (Edward Elgar, 2023). His primary study of internationalisation is 'International student security', co-authored with Chris Nyland, Erlenawati Sawir and Helen Forbes-Mewett (Cambridge University Press, 2010).

Aliandra Barlete

Dr Aliandra Barlete is a Teaching Fellow in Comparative Education and International Development (CEID) at the Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh. She holds a PhD in Sociology of Education from the University of Cambridge. She has over 20 years of experience in internationalisation of higher education, both as a practitioner and as a researcher, with a special interest in regional higher education in Latin America.
