Emily Palmer joined Una Europa as Secretary-General in April 2019. Una Europa is an alliance of eleven leading European research-intensive universities that have come together to create a truly European inter-university environment – a University of the Future. Emily is the spokesperson of the Una Europa alliance, tasked with advocating and promoting Una Europa’s vision, strategies and policies to the alliance community and external stakeholders across Europe’s higher education sector. As Secretary-General, Emily acts as guardian of Una Europa’s strategic vision, collaborating closely with the alliance’s Board of Directors to translate vision into action and thereby promote long-term cooperation between the partner universities. Additionally, Emily holds responsibility for the daily management of the Una Europa Association (Una Europa vzw) as well as its office and staff. Before joining Una Europa, Emily worked for the EuroTech Universities Alliance for seven years, with the final five years as Head of their Brussels Office. She spent the previous decade working for UK regional offices in Brussels, advising universities on EU policy and funding. Emily graduated with a Master of Arts in European Studies from the University of Sussex in 2003.
